Notes for PSA Producers
Hey! We’re glad you’re interested in producing a Public Service Announcement (PSA) for distribution via Podcasts.
By PSA, we mean a short (no more than 30 seconds), up-to-date non-commercial audio advertisement designed to raise awareness of a specific issue with a podcast audience.
We’re not a media agency, and we don’t promise that your PSA will get played. we simply send details of your PSA to podcasters who have subscribed to our feed. The rest is up to them. Being the innovative, ground-breaking and generally fab people that they are, however, you will usually hear from a podcaster who has used your material.
For the highest chance of being played, your PSA should conform to the following specifications:
- mp3 (MPEG-1, layer 3)
- 22050Hz or 44100Hz sample rate
- 64kbps to 128kbps bit rate - for speech, you shouldn’t need more
- contain ID3v1 or ID3v2 tags
Further, we recommend that you only use certifiable pod-safe music. The rules surrounding fair-use of commercial music are unclear, and it’s not worth risking legal action.
To submit your PSA, simply send the following information in an e-mail to .
” title=”.
“>.
- Your name
- Your organisation’s name
- PSA title
- PSA Description
- Transcript of the content
- Link to mp3 file (don’t send us the actual file - we don’t provide mp3 hosting)
- Suggested category (we’re building the categories, so we reserve the right to use something different)
- Follow-up e-mail address (for podcaster queries, feedback - this will be published on podcastpsa.net)
- Confirmation that you represent the organisation that created the PSA
- A Creative Commons license
We’ll make sure we’ve got all the information we need and publish your PSA as soon as possible.
Sending us a PSA link doesn’t infer any kind of contract between the operators of PodcastPSA.net. This is a grass-roots best-efforts project (for now).
Good luck with your project and we look forward to hearing and distributing your PSA.
